This is what the archive retains, and what it does not. The archive is operated anonymously and intends to remain so. The text below is the operative protocol regardless of jurisdiction.

// What the archive keeps

• Your confession text, as submitted. Permanent.
• Your browser language preference. (A two-letter tag derived from that language is also stored — never from your network address.)
• A one-way hash of your network address mixed with a server-side secret. The original address is not stored. The hash is not reversible by us.
• A one-way hash of certain browser characteristics, computed in your browser and sent for rate-limiting.
• A timestamp.

// What the archive never collects

• Names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses.
• Payment information.
• Precise geolocation.
• Behavior on other sites.
• Your raw network address.

// Purpose

The two hashes exist for one purpose only: to enforce the one-confession-per-ten-minutes-per-device cooldown that protects the archive from automated abuse. The confession text is the public record itself; that is the whole point.

// Third parties touched by your request

• A network-edge provider terminates the connection and runs an anti-bot challenge before your confession reaches the archive.
• An automated content classifier receives the confession text once at submission to screen for hard-prohibited categories (sexual content involving minors, credible threats of violence, self-harm instructions). It does not train on this input.
• If advertising is later enabled, an ad provider may set its own cookies; consult that provider's policy.

// Public display

Approximately the ten most recent confessions are shown on the home page, with profanity automatically masked while the original text remains in the archive. Beside each public confession only the language is shown. No identifier links a public confession to its author.

// Retention

Confessions are kept indefinitely. This is the point of the archive. Rate-limit hashes are discarded after ten minutes.

// Rights you may have

Most data-protection regimes recognize rights of access, deletion, objection, and portability. The archive honors these to the extent technically possible. Because we deliberately do not link your confession to identifiable data, we usually cannot locate your specific record. Requests including a substring of the text and the approximate timestamp will be reviewed on a best-effort basis. The archive may comply with valid legal orders.

// Local storage

Your browser keeps a small amount of state — your language preference and a transient cooldown marker. We do not track you across visits.

// Minors

Intended for adults. If you are below the age of majority in your jurisdiction, please leave the archive.

// Changes

This protocol may be revised. The revision date above will reflect any change.

The archive is operated anonymously by intent. Legal correspondence should be routed through the registrar or the network-edge provider listed in public WHOIS and DNS records.
